Eliot Minor aka The Academy originate from York in the UK. On Elliot Minors Myspace page it says, they also use classical music within the music. Elliott Minor, when they were The Academy , supported McFly in Newcastle in 2006 to an audience of 13,000 devotees and were picked up by somebody for Repossession Records who were so impressed that they later sign a record deal.

The band members of Eliot Minor are Alex Davis (Vocals and Guitar), Ed Minton (Vocals and Guitar), Dan Hetherton (Backing Vocals and Drums), Ali Paul (Keyboard and Piano) and Teddy Hetherton (Bass).

Alex and Dan both grew up in York, where they went to the Minster choir schoolhouse, Ed was born in Japan began his education in at the age of 8. Alex went to Uppingham school it was there were he met Ed, and then they send all the time they had making their own music. Dan went to Pocklington schoolhouse where he focus on music and drama. When they left school in Oct 2005, Dan and Alex went back to the Minster, picking up there younger brothers. Shortly after their chance reunion, Elliott Minor (previously known as The Academy) formed, and they began composing and recording. Elliot Minor have 26+ songs recorded and are still recording and composing. All material to date are original songs written and recorded by Elliot Minor. Elliott Minor have been recording new songs for around about 3 monthsand are now taking a break to continue playing shows around the UK. The album is planned to be brought out in late July, while they will be releasing a yet undecided new single in early July. Eliot Minor have been doing more and more gigs since the band was set up in 2005. As gigs became more regular, they decided to include Ali Paul and Ted Hetherton (Dan s brother) in the band. They went to the Minster schoolhouse with Alex and Dan when they were younger. Ali and Ted are now palying keyboard and bass in live performances.

Elliot Minor brought out their first single, Parallel Worlds, on the 9 April 2007. It was number 31 on the UK Singles Charts. Before this it has already been on major channels lke MTV2, The Box, Kerrang TV and The Hits. The band posts a Webisode of themselves recording a new album in Los Angeles on their YouTube and MySpace page every monday. The producer is Jim Wirt, who works with the bands Something Corporate and Jack s Mannequin, two of Elliot Minor s main influences.

Elliott Minor have played numerous small gigs in their local area, including The Mount school, York where there was no entry fee. Eliot Minor have been touring the country since march 2007 including Scotland. Locations include Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds, London, Glasgow and Birmingham. The majority of the venues booked are smaller halls within various Carling Academies.
