I left the Toon in 1973 for Nova Scotia and on to Vancouver and lots of stops in between the East and West coast over a 12 year period. Missed the Keegan days but kinda lost touch with the team. California in 85 and was fully into all the sports the USA had to offer. I thought the Ashley days would never end and felt the misery from afar. This new lease on life is a miracle and I’m fully energized and onboard with our team. Someone saw the potential with Eddie Howe and that has shown to be the a stroke of genius. This is just the start of a magnificent period for all Geordies near and far and I read and watch everything aboot the team. I have been to the Super Bowl, World Series and the Stanley Cup but will not rest until Im present and watch in person our team win the FA cup. HWTL.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but Craig Hope certainly was taking a dig against Bruce when he was describing Howe's virtues, one of those being that he's genuine. So perhaps Downie was doing similar here. It makes you wonder how Bruce seemingly has so many people willing to stick up for him if he is a disingenuous twat, but maybe that says more about the company he keeps than it's a sign that he's a decent bloke.
He's turning it around. Bruce should be sued for his wages.
