On today’s ‘Early Kick Off’ The Athletic’s David Ornstein and Natalie Pike discussed the imminent arrival of Eddie Howe to St James’ Park.

Eddie Howe has agreed a deal in principle to become the new Newcastle manager on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

The former Bournemouth and Burnley boss held additional talks with Newcastle this week regarding their vacant managerial role. The finer details of his plans for the club were discussed as well as the make-up of his backroom team.

He is the right man he’s English he’s won everything he’s been out of work for over a year it’s Newcastle they’re always challenging so what’s the problem ?

I don’t like the repeated wording “ I think”…..think means “doubt” which is a negative……”I believe” is a positive…..I wish people would use “I believe” …….So “I believe” Eddie Howe will be a great fit, he knows how to bring a club through the leagues with smaller budgets, Eddie will work hard to bring NUFC out of the bottom 3 and i believe he will do that, he has 6 months to work this and also has the January 22 transfer window and a bottomless pit of KSA £££ to bring in new player support where needed. In my book it’s all very positive.
Ps Amanda Stavely looks like Samantha out of the 60s US comedy “Bewitched”….I’m always looking to see if she twitches her nose…..during the recent NUFC matches ……?

He deserves a chance, proved his worth with Bournemouth, he will do a great job , long as he's given 100% support, especially from players time for these millionaires to put up or leave for another club

Eddie Howe is a class choice – what on earth are people who have never kicked a ball in earnest doing expressing opinions with zero foundation on the appointment.. remove the brunette from the discussion sheet is a total waste of space – go comment on women's football please- you are not qualified to comment on a man's game Natalie – seriously ?

There was only two mangers I really wanted that was Brendon Rodgers and Eddie Howe . So I’m happy with the choice tbh … can’t wait for investment most excited I’ve been since champs league days with sir Bobby ?

Used to managing small to medium sized clubs so a good fit in that respect. Probably got a good chance of getting them out of the championship next season and then achieving some sort of PL stability assuming they'll bring in some new players.

If there was 90% chance of Newcastle getting relegated, it has now become 100%. Howe is tactically clueless. They'll now ship minimum 50 goals between now and end of the season.

Just heard in the last 30 minutes that Eddie Howe's confirmation as Newcastle United manager has stalled.

Again, and this is something that will surely ring a bell with Celtic supporters the issue is surrounding his backroom staff & the possibility remains that the whole deal could still collapse.

Just wonder who was next on the Newcastle United list of people to take over the manager's job.

Hes perfect for the job. Our owners may be rich but we have not won a game and need to get to mid table this season nevermind stay up. …we need to jog before we can run..1st thing is..we need a new manager ..who will attack..not play dour football like Bruce

Eddie Howe is far more suitable than any of the dipshit pundits on TV, Youtube "celebrities" or any of us idiots who comment online. Give him a chance… you'll be surprised.
